Contactors

Heavy-Duty Switching: The Muscle of Industrial Control

Contactors

  • Contactors are the muscle of electrical control, designed to repeatedly switch high-current loads like motors, heating banks, and capacitors.

  • Our best-selling contactors are selected for AC-3 Duty performance—the ability to handle the high inrush currents involved in starting squirrel cage induction motors, which are standard across Indian manufacturing and agriculture.

  • Engineered for durability, they feature robust arc-quenching chambers to handle the electrical stress of frequent switching.

AC-3 Motor Duty: Reliable Starting for Induction Motors

  • The workhorse of motor control centers (MCCs). These 3-pole contactors are designed specifically for switching 415V 3-phase motors. They feature a modular design, allowing easy addition of auxiliary contact blocks (NO/NC) for control logic and interlocking.

  • Designed for the Indian industrial environment, these coils are engineered to operate reliably even if the supply voltage drops to 85% or rises to 110% of the nominal rating, preventing coil burning during voltage fluctuations.

Key Features & Specifications:

  • AC-3 Duty Rated: Certified for starting induction motors and switching them off during running.

  • Wide Coil Tolerance: Reliable operation between 85% – 110% of rated control voltage (typically 230V AC or 415V AC coils).

  • Long Mechanical Life: Designed for millions of switching cycles.

  • DIN Rail or Screw Mount: Flexible installation options for various panel layouts.

Capacitor Duty Contactors

Inrush Suppressed: Specialized Switching for APFC Panels

  • Switching capacitor banks for Power Factor Correction (APFC) panels presents a unique challenge: enormous inrush currents (up to 200x nominal current) that can weld the contacts of a standard contactor instantly.

  • Our specialized Capacitor Duty Contactors solve this using Early-Make Contacts and Damping Resistors. When energized, special auxiliary contacts close first, connecting resistors that limit the inrush current peak. Only then do the main power contacts close. This significantly extends the life of both the contactor and the expensive capacitors.

Key Features & Specifications:

  • Inrush Current Suppression: Integral damping resistors limit the initial current surge.

  • Reduced Contact Wear: Prevents contact welding and erosion common in capacitor switching.

  • kVAR Rating: Sized specifically for standard capacitor bank steps at 415V (e.g., 12.5 kVAR, 25 kVAR, 50 kVAR).

  • Application: Essential for Automatic Power Factor Correction panels to avoid utility penalties.
